Please read the game note before playing the quiz. The answers are the suggestions that Facebook gives when you enter a single letter of the alphabet. For instance, if you enter only the letter "b", Facebook gives you one automatic suggestion for your religion. If you enter "bu", it gives you two English language suggestion. Neither of which were given of you just enter "b". This data is good as of May 20, 2011.

Either Facebook is missing a lot or you are missing a lot? Where is Buddhist? What about the Baha'is?

It has 'flying spaghetti monster' but not it's real name 'pastafarianism' - it's almost like they think it's a joke religion

On the Buddhist question - please read my initial comment above. If you type in the letter "b" you won't get an autosuggestion from Facebook for Buddhism. If you type in "bu", however, you will get an autosuggestion for Buddhism. Go on Facebook and try it out for yourself.

19% got Flying Spaghetti Monster? Where have I been and never heard of this intriguing belief system? Also, the Orthodox religions are seriously underrepresented in Facebook's suggestion list.

My local chapter of Campus Crusade for Cthulu will be disappointed at how underrepresented they are. Then they will slip into the fabled blackdeath trance of the woegothics, while quaking in the bloodeldritch throes of the broodfester tongues.

@jefrunner: We probably won't take your religion seriously until you at least learn to spell the name of your own god.

Well it does autosuggest both Mahayana and Theravada buddhism, so maybe this is a "people usually specify denomination when listing their religion" thing?

My favorite along these lines: a college application to an Episcopal school, with a line for Church Preference, which someone carefully answered "Gothic."

I wonder how many Facebook users put 'Amish' down as their religion.

I too noticed Amish was missing, as was Mennonite, Brethren, Church of Christ, and Wesleyan.

I just want to say that I've been a member of the Church of Pastafarianism for a while now and it is an extremely welcoming denomination. R'amen.

Sunni made the list but Shi'a didn't? Are we REALLY that much of a minority? I'm also amazed that Yorùbá religion even made the list, while more specific Afro-Caribbean faiths like SanterÃa and Candomblé didn't. I wonder if it reflects 'authentic' Yorùbá ethnic beliefs, or if it's the result of increasing self-awareness on the part of American practitioners and an increased willingness to group together under a common umbrella. Taken as a whole, the Yorùbá faiths exceed the number of Jews in the world. Anyway, I wonder if this list would be different if you were to access FB in a language other than English.

Just goes to show how overwhelmingly Western Facebook still is when you have several minority Christian sects in the list, but with some of the most major Eastern religions, having tens or hundreds of millions of followers (Shia Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Taoism/Confucianism), missing.
