I wonder why the survey doesn't break down "Orthodox" in to actual churches.

I can understand combining the "Orthodox," but I found it odd that they categorized African Methodist Episcopal with "Methodist." I looked at the appendix to the survey but could not find the "Pietist."

I did my own research on "Pietists" and it doesn't really seem that there are any identifiable Pietist denominations. The Pietism movement had influences on many other denominations, though. I guess the one congressperson self-identified as Pietist.

I think we can all figure out what state the Mormon congressmen represent... Also, I had no idea until he was elected, but one of my state's (Indiana) congressmen is Muslim, which I thought was cool.

1 in 6 Americans is a declared Atheist, Agnostic, Humanist or is non-religious yet there is not a single one in Congress (at least none who are open about it). Quite sad that there is still such a stigma around being non-religious. Good quiz.

@publicenemy: You're a bloody moron. It's intolerance and ignorance like yours that turn people (from all walks of life) violent.

Riko: what are you talking about that there are no avowed atheists in Congress? There are 3 Unitarians! lol

Is that a joke? Cos' it wasn't very funny... As is PublicEnemy Quite surprising there are no athiests though, even for a country as barmy as a America...

It actually wasn't a joke. Most Unitarians I know are atheists.

@Riko: Check out Pete Stark from the SF Bay area. He's a declared atheist.

Ah. There's a lot of Unitarians that are not... at least in the UK, though its obviously compatible.

MasterNachos' comment got me curious, since the source lists 14 Mormons in congress and there's only 5 Representatives and Senators from Utah. Turns out they represent Utah, Nevada, Idaho, California, New Mexico, Iowa, Arizona, and (as a non-voting delegate) American Samoa.

Mormon politicians are not just in the West. Mitt Romney was governor of Massachusetts and his father was governor of Michigan.

Since typing "no religion" brings up "Unspecified, don't know," can you also accept atheist and agnostic for this category?

This is nit-picky, but could you accept Church of Christ-Scientist for Christian Scientist? Great quiz! I can't believe I didn't think of Episcopalian. One of the Muslim representatives is Keith Ellison, from my state (Minnesota) although not my district. And what do you mean by "Pietist"?

Baptist and Southern Baptist shouldn't be lumped together, nor should Methodist and the AMC, as well as all the various branches of Orthodox.

AME/AMEZ- seriously, none? And no Hindus. Crazy!

@mowood - AME counts as Methodist, I'd imagine. @masternachos - there are actually several Mormon members of congress who are not from Utah. Harry Reid is from Nevada; the Udall cousins are from Colorado and New Mexico. There used to be Gordon Smith, from Oregon, but he got ousted in 2008. I'd guess there's a couple of others.
