	There's something very charming about the early Beatles albums. They're young professional musicians, deliberately writing songs for girls 10 years younger than themselves, and they don't take themselves at all seriously. They just want to make money, tour successfully, sell albums. By the late sixties, they were 'serious artists', burnt out by the fame, drugs and success. The early music is just more fun, because they're still having fun.

	I don't really agree with the "writing songs for girls 10 years younger than themselves" stuff. I think it was for girls their age. The younger tweens kind of latched on to them not vice versa.

	severian: I'm not so sure it's as sappy as all that - it's not just "I wuv oo," it's "you'd better be easier to manage than my ex, because I want to get into another relationship fast in order to get revenge on her for dumping me." Not exactly the most noble sentiment.

	first time I actually got it all right woot! songs are for any romantic type.. from 10-100 its a type they sang for in the early days. They were happy songs that is why we loved them. Afterwards it was just sad.

	Figured this out faster than the others, then found I barely knew any of the lyrics - oops! BTW, Evan Rachel Wood sang a beautiful version of this for the movie Across the Universe...I actually had her voice in my head as I typed.

	I like the Beatles. But I must admit that reading the lyrics before hearing this song is kind of a turn-off. Is there no better, less juvenile way of saying, "'cause I couldn't stand the pain and I would be sad"? No doubt it's musically quite pretty, though. Go Beatles.
