	Not making fun. Simply pointing out facts. Mormons are generally really good people. Just misguided. I don't make fun, but I don't like it when people lump Mormons in as a denomination of Christianity. It's not. Christians believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and it's complete. Mormons add several books to justify their beliefs.

	I tend to agree with mungar - Christianity has just had longer for its odd beliefs to see normal ("you're eating my body and drinking my blood"). Not a knock on peoples' beliefs, but it's weird to me when someone points out how crazy a religion's beliefs are but ignores the weirdness of their own. Most of the religions I know of have beliefs that are strange to outsiders. That's where faith comes in. (OT, I sucked at this quiz.)

I ask because Roman Catholic Bibles contain the Deuterocanonical books, which do not appear in Protestant Bibles. If you require that a belief that the Bible is complete is a prerequisite for being a Christian, then one or the other (or both) of these groups are not Christian.

And in the old testament wasnt Moses against slavery with the whole "Let my people go" thing. Oh and people, stop with the hating on Mormons. 	@Kuzybus: Does that work the other way around too? Because I got 100%, and I could sure use 10 wives. Anyhoo, to add to the religious discussion, I believe what I believe because it gives me a sense of direction, like I have something to work toward throughout the course of my life. Is it true? I have faith that it is, but there's no way of knowing for certain. But either way, it makes me happy, regardless of whether or not I'm deluded.

	@chicago: Many americans in the antebellum south used the bible to justify slavery as they believed all blacks were the desendants of one of noahs sons who was outcast(for seeing his father passed out drunk and naked). As for the actual slavery, I don't have time to list them all but you can find quite a few here http://etori.tripod.com/slave-verses.html infanticide is justified by Abraham sacrificing his own son, Child molestation by the holy man in Sodom offering his daughters to be raped by a crowd to spare angels, and I shouldn't even have to mention the crusades.

	@iceman - Have you ever actually read the story of Abraham? He doesn't kill his son. And I don't think you should discredit religion as a whole because of the mistakes of men. Religion is imperfect because men administer it.

	Scary? are you kidding? The Bible is simply a book of stories. Plain and Simple. Enjoy them. What's scary is the people who take them and twist them into reality, and believe those stories are truth. That is what's scary.

	It would be curious to know how many people on this board have even read the Book of Mormon. It's never the text of the book that "offends", but its presence. The Book of Mormon has nothing to rival the Bible like a talking ass, for instance.

	chuck, he doesn't kill his son because 'god' 'tells' him not to at the last minute. That's a good moral story isn't it? A father willing to kill his son for no reason other than to satsify the unexplained commands of some higher power. Basically the nurnberg defence.

	@iceman1731- Have you ever thought that people might use something, take it completely out of context etc to meet there own needs? Yes people in the south of america might have completely mis-used the bible to condone slavery; does that mean the bible does? No. Newspapers and loads of other stuff thrive on things being taken out of context. Also if your going to blame Christianity for the crusades (I admit partially to blame, but also (as with the south) an excuse)) how about blaming Atheism for Stalins USSR and Maos China? - great job on not killing people they did. I'm British and have never met anyone who is a Mormon but as far as i can tell they're not trying to take over the world by force but trying to lead a good life ... why not let them?

	@Caesar: Your comparison between the Crusades and the horrors committed by various atheists is completely invalid. Christianity is blamed for the Crusades because it was a Christian holy war. The Church was actively encouraging and supporting the effort to drive the Muslims out of Israel. The Crusaders were fighting with the Pope's personal blessing and were told that, if they died in the war, they would go straight to heaven. (Sound familiar?) Sure, Stalin was an atheist but there was no atheist organization comparable to the Catholic Church that was telling him to do what he did. He didn't do them because he was atheist. Similarly, George W. Bush is a Christian but Christianity isn't to blame for the war in Iraq because the church didn't sanction or encourage the war.

	@davidr: And again we're brought round to the point that it's not the faith itself, but how people practise the faith that causes such terrible things. The Catholic church (headed by the Pope) condoning the crusades isn't saying that the Bible encourages it. Similarly I know many Muslims who are appalled at the concept of Jihad, and do not believe that it holds its roots in their scripture, but rather is the corruption of such philosophy by so-called fundamentalist groups
