| Hamburger: Busan is the correct name. It was formerly called Pusan but with implementation of Revised Romanization in 2000, Pusan became Busan.
Onno: I'd have loved for it to remain Harwich, much history there and home of Christopher Newport after whom Newport News, Virginia is named. It too is a seaport though mainly coal rather than container ships. But Felixstowe is how the container port is known in the shipping biz these days - even as it is getting overtaken by Thamesport and Southampton by many of the lines. Now if they ever tried to call Southampton something else, I would pitch a major fit.
Manitopiaaa: Thanks! It is a bit of a beastly quiz, I'll agree. Mainly because some of the ports are mainly transshipment hubs rather than origin or termination ports, and others are "manufactured" ports purpose built to meet the demand for deep draught harbors for the post-panamax ships. |
