| Regarding the Rangers, they were the best team by far in the NHL reg season that year, won 2 game 7s in the conf finals and finals, and ended the longest drought in the NHL at that time, 54 years (they've now won 1 title in 69 years!). Back then, the ESPYs were held during the NBA All-Star break. There was no WS winner in 94 due to the strike. The Rockets beating the Knicks was nothing special, a season noted for ugly basketball more than anything else. Your best argument would be the Niners winning the Super Bowl handily in Jan. of 95, their 5th title in 14 years. In college you have a good Arkansas team beat Duke for the 94 hoops title and in football, Nebraska won its 2nd straight title, undefeated both years.
