None of these are truly defunct. The Golden Seals became the Barons who were more less absolved by the North Stars who became the Dallas Stars The Scouts became the Rockies who became the New Jersey Devils The Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary The Nordiques moved to Colorado and became the Avalanche The Jets moved to Phoenix and became the Coyotes The Whalers moved to Carolina and became the Hurricanes

Let's not forget the Montreal Wanderers, Quebec Bulldogs, Hamilton Tigers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Quakers, and St. Louis Eagles...

The Seals/Barons did fold so they could be considered defunct, the North Stars was already a team and both were in danger of collapse so they merged, but really the Barons just went under as there were two teams and then only one. This quiz is categorized wrong, but could be fun if done right.
