Fun quiz! Wisconsin's abbreviation is WI, by the way, not WS.

That's interesting, I was also confused by San Jose's omission. I wonder what it is about that name that made us miss the obvious repetition of a letter.

Good quiz. I'm surprised there's no Charleston, SC there.

@VogonPoet: it's probably because the second S has a Z sound instead of an S sound.

Saint Paul has two a's. DC isn't on it, because I'm assuming the maker spelled out District of Columbia...

@louxie: WashiNgtoN, DC isn't on here because there are two Ns in WashiNgtoN.

Really interesting how so many people miss the two Ns in Washington. Maybe it's because the first is part of the ng sound and the last is a solid n sound.

Yes, there are two n's in Washington, but in the whole name, there are four i's, three t's and four each of a's, s's, n's, c's and o's.

What's weird about the Washington issue is not that people miss it. That happens. What's weird is that at least four different people have missed it to the point of commenting on it. Even suspecting something is amiss they're not picking up the two Ns. Even typing the name in and they're still not seeing it. That's downright bizarre.

Wow, I typed in Washington 5 times, then went through it letter by letter rereading and still couldn't see the double N. I'm smart.

Great quiz- a lovely twist on a common theme. I didn't do particularly well (though part of that is because I'm an East Coaster), but I definitely enjoyed it more than enough (no pun intended) to give it a 5/5.

And @sammetsfan: I thought of St. Paul, too, but the city is officially called Saint Paul, so no issue there. But Salt Lake City? You do realize that there are not one, not two, but three repeated letters in there, right? sALT LAke ciTy... see?

@wildpitch wikipedia has Charleston, SC's population at 124,600 and Charleston, WV's population at 50,300. I wonder how many cities got all the way to the end before failing out of this quiz on the last letter. WashingtoN... ProvidencE... MilwaukeE... DetroiT...
