I decided to try something new here. Let me know what you think about the idea and the time. Obviously, its not that hard to copy and paste, but I hope that you actually try it on your own.

I love the idea. There's no time for people to guess all the answers, that's the most important.

I love the idea, but agree that the execution could be fine-tuned. It's irritating that Kennedy is accepted for John F. Kennedy, but King is not for MLK Jr. Is it because you also have Henri III, King of France? Also the abbreviations suggested by jcpout.

Great idea! I really enjoyed it. Yes, I am sure people will find ways to cheat, but whats new. Keep up the good work.

Results are a little lopsided. People cheating or is there too much time?

What's going on with "Old Kingdom?" I typed it in just like that a zillion times but it didn't take.

i like, but i second the comments on abbreviations and alternate answers. they either need to all only accept exactly what is given (i'm not in favor of this option), or they all need a bit of variation accepted. specifically, the wars. korea vs korean, crusade vs first crusade, stuff like that

Fun idea, but you need to explain how it works. I was going through trying to number all the answers and couldn't figure it out.

It took me a while to figure out what you wanted, but once I did it didn't take me that long. Since many people seem to be getting them all right, maybe you should shorten the time some.

Just when all original ideas get exhausted, somebody comes up with something new. Great job! Imagine if Sporcle REALLY gave us more quiz creating power. (ie: more than 200 answers, ability to count mistakes, etc.)

Please, please make a note on how we are supposed to do this. I got 0 answers because I was typing in numbers. For example, next to the War in Afghanistan hint, I was typing in "10" over and over, instead of typing "Trojan War." And I was typing "1" where it said John Adams and etc.

Might want to specify the US war in Afghanistan. The Soviet Union's war there began in 1979, which would put it before the Iran-Iraq war on the list.

i thought it was a great idea, and well executed. I did try to type numbers at first, but quickly realized i was supposed to actually type the answer. Also, i got really concerned when i started the assassinations section and saw Franz Ferdinand, then i realized you meant the WWI archduke, not the musician.

Should be called European Dark Age and European Feudalism to separate it from others of the same. Also, European Feudalism didn't technically end until 2008.

Really enjoyable quiz! My only complaint, and its hardly fair, is that I find picking between 10 events is a little easy, and would prefer 15-20 historical events in each category (for the next one, eh ;P)

"Dark Age" is an old-fashioned and unfair term to apply to late antiquity/early middle ages. Most medievalists don't use it anymore. (Sorry, just one of my pet peeves!)

I think it coiuld use a bit more time. With four minutes, that gives you an average of six seconds per answer. That doesn't leave much time when you have to digest the whole list and find what you need to type and also allow for typos and slow typers.

1850-1920 seems like an odd dating for the romantic period - even in music it had started before 1850, and in most fields it had closed long, long before 1920.

As others have said, "war in Afghanistan" should be more specific! The poor country has seen a lot over the years — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_in_Afghanistan is a disambiguation page with 12 links, dating between 637 and the present :-(
