| I've been ranting abt the corporate naming stuff for ages, so I'm revved to know I'm not alone. As midnightdj said, at least some of the local names had a connection to the local scene, & a commmitment to the area. Now it's just corporate ego, with all of the local people footing the bill for all new neon and letterhead changes when the newest corporation deigns to accept all the perks and stay in our area. (BTW, I live in Cincinnati, and I'm paying for Paul Brown Stadium, along with every other Hamilton county taxpayer.) The worst offense, tho' was when the city sold the naming rights to the former Albert Sabin Convention Center to Duke Energy. Albert Sabin developed a vaccine that helped cure polio. WHo did Duke Energy cure? |
