Rivers made less money than Palmer, yet threw seven more touchdown passes. How could your math possibly work out?

Hi, according to the source (and assuming it is correct - USA Today), Rivers made over $25.5m that year, though most of it was in signing bonus. Palmer made $9.5m, all in salary. I'll amend the intro to specify that the amount includes bonuses, not just salary.

@jumbodung. Not really. It just shows the craziness of NFL contracts. In all sports, there are long-term deals that are top-heavy, meaning more of the money is paid in the beginning and middle years and less at the end. But in football, it's more of a top-obese contract. A huge amount is paid in the first year or two and it decreases dramatically afterwards.

The aforementioned signing bonus is part of the NFL's contract structure. That's why Rivers is on this list.

Sorry, have amended Garrard - had an extra 6 there, made it look like over $5.6m per TD pass. And he's David Garrard, not JaMarcus Russell.
