That way the list won't be skewed by counting a signing bonus which is prorated over a 5 or 6 year contract as if it all counted in the first year. For example, Dallas Clark's cap number was less than 2.5 million, since his base salary was just $605,000, and his $11 Million signing bonus is evenly distributed over his 6 year contract. Peyton Manning's cap number was $18.7 million, while Marvin Harrison's was $12 million. Dallas Clark actually had the 12th highest cap number on the team. |
