This quiz has the possibility of being a GREAT quiz, I mean front page stuff. The clues are clever, the idea is original and entertaining. But it isn't quite there yet.
It works best when the center word or crossover is a heteronym - a word that has the same spelling but can be pronounced two different ways. Like "mein" and hero/hiro. Not so much when the overlap is a partial word, like tower/towel.
Can I suggest you replace the weaker ones (Beef/Beast, Couch/catch, Milk/milton, pong/long, navajo/mo, sickle/tickle) with cleaner examples? I know it isn't easy to find them, but I did a Google search for heteronyms, and have some suggestions:
Furniture Polish notation (or Polish sausage)
The Book of Job / Job Application
Pencil Lead /Lead Guitarist
Blowing in the Wind / Wind up or Wind down
Tae Kwon Do / Do Not Disturb
Flesh Wound / Wound Up
Largemouth Bass / Bass Drum
Take A Bow / Bow & Arrow
Warren Buffet / Buffet Restaurant
