Check Elgin Baylor's stats for 1961-62. IIRC he averaged 38/19 a game that year, but missed a few games due to army service.

He did average 38.3 ppg, but only played 48 games, so did not qualify.

Damn. Missed Bellamy and Twyman. Also wondered who the hell was the guy that scored 33+ in 05/06? And had several other spectacular recent seasons? I finally remembered the answer (no pun intended) with some 30 seconds to go... what a sad fall from grace for one of the best six-footers ever...

Excellent quiz. In regards to Baylor's '61-62 season, at the time it was required that a player appear in at least 65 games in order to qualify for the scoring championship, which is why his season was omitted. Using modern requirements (70 games played OR 1400 points scored), he has the highest single season scoring average of anyone not named Wilt.

3.5% missed Jordan? Do they think "NBA" stands for something else when they click on the quiz? National Bridge Association?

made it with four seconds left. And Jordan isn't even close to the best all time. Well, he's close, but he's no Big O.

It's amazing how Chamberlain averaged 50 PPG. Most people in the NBA never even score 50 in a single game....

Twyman is the most missed, and yet he was the first one to do it.
