	where does it specify that mcgonagall was widowed? and i don't know if lily should really be considered, since she died no more than a couple of minutes later

	Technically, Mcgonagall didn't marry, she left the man she loved for magic, so even though he died, she isn't technically a widow. But fun quiz!

	The idea behind this quiz is good but the instructions are wrong. Only women can be "widowed" (verb). Men become "widowers" (noun). Old-fashioned sexist roots, sure, but it's the way it is. In order for the answers to be true, the questions should be "Can you name the HP characters who were widowed or widowers?" or just "Can you name the HP characters whose spouses died?" McGonagall is stated to be a widow in the Pottermore extra character information.

	I'm pretty sure the verb "widowed" can refer to either gender. But I'll change it to "spouses died". And Lily is included since it is a known fact that she died after James, even if it was only a couple minutes later.

	Good idea, but not sure if the sources are very clear. Once I realised you were including dead spouses who we never meet in the books, like Mr Black, or ones you only know about if you're on Pottermore, like McGonagall's husband, I just started guessing names at random which spoils the fun a bit. There are other characters who probably deserve to be in here just as much - the main one that comes to mind is Augusta Longbottom.

	You can't know if Rodolphus outlived Bellatrix or .. lived at all.. Also Nymphadora Tonks is the same kind of widow as Lily, Remus was killed first.

	On Nymphadora Tonks: It's never been confirmed if Tonks or Lupin was killed first, so I'm not including either. On Rodolphus Lestrange: It was never mentioned if he died in the Battle of Hogwarts, so I assume he survived and was sent back to Azkaban. On Augusta Longbottom: Neville mentions that his grandfather died, but he never mentions which one.

	I think we can safely infer that Lupin died first by the fact that she is told he was last seen dueling Dolohov before she charges off; Dolohov was Lupin's killer. I concede this is circumstantial at best so if you feel it is not strong enough, I will not press the point.

	Actually, McGonagall is a widow. She married someone else—of course, I didn't know this until I went on the Harry Potter Wiki website to double check. I am also of the opinion that you can't include answers that aren't in the books. Only people who have done uncommon research on the world of Harry Potter outside the books would know, for instance, that McGonagall is widowed (or, indeed, was ever married or courted or anything or the sort). And I agree with DJ0 that there's no proof whether Rodolphus outlived Bellatrix.

	The first person I thought of was Augusta Longbottom, though I agree there is no hard evidence. I'd also assumed Rodolphus Lestrange had died, perhaps during a row with Bellatrix and her Voldy worship....

	What about Aragog? Mosag died before Harry went to Hogwarts. It says so in the second book about his (Aragog's) past.

	I'd say Augusta Longbottom was almost definitely a widow, with Neville saying he saw his grandad die, and always referring to him living 'with his gran'. I can't think of any characters in the series who got a divorce, so I think it's unlikely Neville's grandparents did, and he certainly only lives with his gran now. Otherwise great quiz, and I can't believe I forgot Luna's dad!
