@soberden: same here, on both counts. Very familiar with him, but he's so obscure, when it's considered that his entire career was in the 1800s.

A great player but it would have taken me a long time to guess him. I see him more along the lines of a Molitor/Carew/Gwynn and never really knew he was such a RBI guy.

Talk about a short list! Bonds has 1996, and Gehrig has 1995. What an elite group.
