WAR is a comprehensive stat that incorporates offense and defense, as well as difficulty of a player's position. There may be a few surprises on here for some people.

Surprised at no Howard, Ordonez or Dunn. Guess LF and 1B killed them. Where does Brian Roberts rank? He's one of my favorite players, and one of the most underrated by the media at least

I retract my comment on Howard. He started in 06 if my memory is right, but still surprised about no Ordonez or Dunn.

Dunn is awful at defense. Ordonez has 28.5 plus losing 5.2 due to his position.

This quiz should probably point out somewhere that it's for position players only.

So I'm guessing Joe Mauer needs more years before he shows up on here?

Mauer's 27.9 WAR. Coming off his best year - 8.2, which is pretty great - by comparison, Barry Bonds was 13.3 WAR in 2002, arguably his best season. Mauer does benefit from being a catcher, of course.

Remember, he did that in five months. Pro-rated, he's almost 10 WAR. Insane.

Is it possible that Adrian Beltre is both the most underrated and overrated player in baseball all at the same time?
