[SC1]
(Neo walks in to find an older woman sitting by an oven. She holds up her hand, indicating for him to wait.)
Oracle: I know that you're Neo. Be right with you.
[SC1]
Oracle: Bingo. Not quite what you were expecting, right? Almost done.
(She stands up and puts on an oven mitt)
Smell good, don't they?
[SC1]
Oracle: I'd ask you to sit down. But you're not going to anyway. And don't worry about the vase.
[SC1]
(Neo knocks over a vase)
Oracle: That vase.
[SC1]
Oracle: I said don't worry about it. I'll get one of my kids to fix it.
[SC1]
(The Oracle lights a cigarette)
Oracle: Ohhhh, what's really gonna bake your noodle later on is…would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything? ... You're cuter than I thought. I can see why she likes you.
[SC1]
Oracle: Not too bright, though. You know why Morpheus brought you to see me?
(Neo nods)
So…what do you think? Do you think you're the one?
[SC1]
(The Oracle indicates a carved sign over her kitchen door that reads 'Temet Nosce')
Oracle: Know what that means? It's latin. Means 'know thyself'. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: being 'the one' is just like being in love. No one can tell you you're in love; you just know it, through and through. Balls to bones. Well...better have a look at you. Open your mouth. Say 'aaah'.
[SC1]
(The Oracle fidgets with Neo's head, then examines his hands.)
Oracle: Okay…now I'm supposed to say 'mmm…that's interesting, but…'; then you say…
[SC1]
Oracle: But you already know what I'm going to tell you.
[SC1]
Oracle: Sorry, kid. You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something.
[SC1]
Oracle: Next life, maybe. Who knows? That's the way these things go.
(Neo appears amused.)
What's funny?
[SC1]
(The Oracle is now carrying a tray of cookies)
Oracle: I know. Poor Morpheus. Without him, we're lost.
[SC1]
Oracle: Are you sure you want to hear this? ... Morpheus believes in you, Neo. And no one--not you, not even me--can convince him otherwise. He believes it so blindly, that he's going to sacrifice his life to save yours. You're going to have to make a choice. In the one hand you'll have Morpheus's life. And in the other hand, you'll have your own. One of you is going to die. Which one is up to you. I'm sorry, kiddo, I really am. You have a good soul. And I hate giving good people bad news. Come on, don't worry about it. As soon as you step outside that door, you'll start feeling better. You'll remember that you don't believe in any of this 'fate' crap. You're in control of your own life, remember?
(The Oracle presents the dish of cookies)
Here. Take a cookie. I promise by the time you're done eating it, you'll feel right as rain.
[SC2]
(Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity return to the warehouse where everyone is waiting to leave The Matrix. Neo is awkwardly greeted by Cypher. They all start to head upstairs when Neo notices a cat shaking in a nearby doorway. He walks a little further then looks again. Same cat, same shaking.)
[SC2]
(Everyone stops, alarmed.)
Trinity: What did you just say?
[SC2]
Trinity: What did you see?
Cypher: What happened?
[SC2]
Trinity: How much like it--was it the same cat?
[SC2]
(Ominous music plays. Morpheus calls Switch and Apoc in a similarly ominous way. Everyone starts doing different things ominously.)
[SC2]
Trinity: A déjà vu is a glitch in The Matrix. It happens when they change something.
Morpheus: Let's go.
(All hell breaks loose. Agents arrive with SWAT team members. Worm, the little guy, is killed. They hide in the walls until they are discovered. An agent grabs Neo--but Morpheus tackles the agent and tells Trinity to get Neo out. Despite Neo's objections, Trinity does so. They make it out and call Tank.)
Trinity: Tank, it's me.
[SC2]
Trinity: Is Morpheus alive, Tank?
(She finds out he is and informs Neo. She asks for the nearest place to find one of those awesome telephones that will transport them out of The Matrix. Tank directs them to one that Cypher just used. Trinity is surprised that Cypher made it out alive. When they reach the phone, Trinity instructs Neo to go first. Neo picks up the phone. Nothing happens.)
[SC2]
(Trinity calls the ship with her cell phone and finds out that Cypher has shot Tank and Dozer with his giant space gun and severed the exit line. He was also behind the agents capturing Morpheus and every other bad thing that's happened to them recently. Cypher has a philosophical argument with Trinity, during which he pulls the plug on Apoc and Switch, killing them both. He's about to kill Neo, proving that he's not 'The One', when Tank, suddenly alive, kills Cypher with the big space gun. Then phone rings. Neo picks it up and hands it to Trinity.)
[SC3]
(Neo and Trinity are both transported back. They stand over Morpheus, who is still hooked into The Matrix.)
[SC3]
Tank: Breaking into his mind. It's like hacking into a computer; all it takes is time.
[SC3]
Tank: Depends on the mind. But eventually it'll crack. And his alpha patterns will change--from this, to this.
(Tank punches some buttons on a screen to indicate what 'this' and 'this' are.)
When it does, Morpheus will tell them anything they want to know.
[SC3]
Tank: The leader of every ship is given codes to Zion's mainframe computer. If an agent got the codes and got into Zion's mainframe, it could destroy us. Can't let that happen.
(Tank turns to Trinity)
Trinity, Zion's more important than me, or you, or even Morpheus.
[SC3]
Tank: There is. We pull the plug.
Trinity: You're gonna kill him? Kill Morpheus?
Tank: We don't have any other choice.
(Tank, Trinity, and Neo are standing over Morpheus, about to sever the connection and kill him.)
Tank: Morpheus, you were more than a leader to us. You were...a father. We'll miss you always.
(Tank reaches down and grabs the cord in the back of Morpheus's skull)
[SC3]
(They stop and look at Neo)
[SC3]
Tank: Neo, this has to be done.
[SC3]
Tank: What are you talking about?
Trinity: What choice?
(Neo suddenly springs into action, as does the score.)
[SC4]
Trinity: What are you doing?
[SC4]
Trinity: No you're not.
[SC4]
Trinity: Neo, Morpheus sacrificed himself to get you out. There is no way that you're going back in.
[SC4]
Trinity: …What?
[SC4]
Trinity: No, you have to be.
[SC4]
Trinity: No, Neo, that's not true. It can't be true.
[SC4]
(Trinity can't answer, so Neo presses on doing 'stuff'.)
Tank: Neo, this is loco. They've got Morpheus in a military-controlled building. Even if you somehow got inside, those are agents holding him--three of 'em. I want Morpheus back too, but what you're talking about is suicide.
[SC4]
(Neo reconsiders this and tries explaining 'why it's not' after all.)
[SC4]
Tank: Why?
[SC4]
Trinity: What?
[SC4]
(Neo once again springs into action, punching buttons and so forth. He suddenly notices that Trinity is also pushing buttons on the button-pushing thing right behind him.)
[SC4]
Trinity: Going with you.
[SC4]
Trinity: No? Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that Morpheus means more to me than he does to you. I believe that if you're really serious about saving him then you're going to need my help. And since I am the ranking officer on this ship--if you don't like it, I believe you can go to hell. Because you aren't going anywhere else. Tank, load us up.
(Now that that's settled, Neo and Trinity are hooked in to the white void of the construct program.)
Tank: Okay, what do you need...besides a miracle?
[SC4]
(Lots of guns appear.)
Trinity: Neo, no one has ever done anything like this.
[SC5]
(Later. Neo and Trinity enter the lobby of the building where Morpheus is being held and kill LOTS of people. They take the elevator up. Then they actually get on top of the elevator and grab the cord. They grab hold of each other. Before Neo propels them both upwards by shooting the connection between the cord and the elevator, he says...)
[SC5]
(Neo and Trinity fly upwards as the elevator drops back down to the lobby. The elevator, evidently packed with explosives, makes the lobby into an even bigger mess than it already was, shaking the core of the building. Neo and Trinity are now on the roof, killing a bunch more people. An agent arrives. Neo empties two full clips at the agent but doesn't hit him. Neo panics as the agent takes aim.)
[SC5]
(Neo famously dodges the Agent's bullets. But he is eventually hit in the thigh and falls back on the ground. The agent appears over him and prepares to fire at point blank range.)
Agent: Only human...
(Trinity appears right next to the agent with the barrel of her gun at his temple.
Trinity: Dodge this.
(She fires, 'killing' the agent. She helps Neo up.)
Trinity: How did you do that?
[SC5]
Trinity: You moved like they do. I've never seen anyone that fast.
[SC5]
(Neo spies the helicopter sitting on the roof.)
[SC5]
Trinity: Not yet.
(She calls Tank and instantly learns how to fly it. They take the chopper down to building level where Morpheus is being held. They fire many, many, many rounds through the window, 'killing' all three agents but leaving Morpheus unharmed. Neo sees Morpheus slumped in his chair, reeling from all of that Agent-Torture.)
[SC5]
(Morpheus uses his remaining strength to break his bonds and sprint towards the chopper. The regenerated agents burst in and fire at Morpheus, hitting him in the leg. He starts to stumble just as he reaches the window to jump.)
[SC5]
(Neo hooks himself to the chopper and dives out, catching Morpheus in mid-air. They fall together down several floors, but Neo is still hooked up to the chopper so they stop abruptly. Morpheus starts to slip down but Neo catches his hand.)
[SC5]
(The agents fire at the chopper, and Trinity starts to lose control. Morpheus and Neo drop safely on a nearby rooftop. Neo watches as the chopper spins away and realizes it's going to crash.)
[SC5]
(Neo, still attached to the chopper, grabs the line as it pulls him all the way to the edge of the roof. Just in the nick of time, Trinity shoots the line free and Neo pulls her up to safety. Trinity and Neo look longingly at each other.)
Morpheus: Do you believe now, Trinity?
[SC5]
Morpheus: She told you…exactly what you needed to hear. That's all. Neo, sooner or later you're going to realize, just as I did...there's a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path.
(Tank directs the three of them to an exit line in a nearby subway. They arrive there to find a phone booth. The only soul there is a homeless man. The phone is ringing. Neo opens the door.)
[SC5]
(Morpheus answers the phone and vanishes. Neo hangs it up.)
Trinity: Neo, I want to tell you something. But I'm afraid of…what it could mean if I do.
(The phone rings)
Everything the oracle told me has come true. Everything but this…
[SC5]
(A subway passes as the phone continues to ring. Trinity finally decides to answer the phone. The homeless man, now an agent, fires at her. She vanishes just in time, but the bullet destroys the phone, eliminating Neo's means of escape. Agent Smith saunters up to him.)
Agent Smith: Mr. Anderson...
(Neo knows that he should run, but instead...)
[SC5]
(Neo and Agent Smith run at each other, firing their guns 'Matrix-style' until they finally collide. They both end up on the ground, each man with his gun to the other's head.)
Agent Smith: You're empty.
[SC5]
(Agent Smith is not happy with this. They move to hand-to-hand. Neo breaks Agent Smith's glasses. He pulls them off, menacingly.)
Agent Smith: I'm going to enjoy watching you die…Mr. Anderson.
(They fight more. Each gain and lose the upper hand until Agent Smith finally tosses Neo onto the subway tracks. He jumps down and puts Neo in a headlock as another train approaches.)
Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability. It is the sound of your death. Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.
[SC5]
(Neo hurls them both up into the ceiling, breaking the headlock. He backflips back onto the subway platform an instant before the train barrels through. Agent Smith is not so lucky as the train smashes right into him. Neo starts to leave the subway as the train grinds to a halt. He turns to see Agent Smith step off. Neo, realizing Agent Smith can't be killed. Dashes off onto the street. He snatches a civilian's cell phone and calls up Tank.)
[SC5]
(Tank directs him to a new address for an exit. Neo eventually ends up in an alley. It's a dead end. He dials up Tank again.)
[SC5]
Tank: Door!
(Suddenly there's a door, Neo goes through, pursued by all three agents. He runs through hallways and across fire escapes. Eventually he find the address. He climbs up the fire escape, dodging the agents' bullets. He runs through the hallway to room 303, where he hears the phone ringing. As soon as he opens the door, Agent Smith is there. Agent Smith shoots him several times. Neo crumbles to the ground and dies. The other agents confirm that he's dead.)
Agent Smith: Goodbye, Mr. Anderson.
(Back on the ship, Trinity leans over Neo.)
Trinity: Neo...I'm not afraid anymore. The Oracle told me that I would fall in love and that that man...the man that I loved, would be The One. So you see--you can't be dead. You can't be, because I love you. You hear me? I love you.
(Trinity kisses Neo.)
[SC5]
Trinity: Now get up.
(Neo, inside The Matrix, gets up. The agents notice this. They turn around and point their guns at Neo.)
(They fire. Neo holds up his hand and the bullets halt in mid-air. The agents are dumbfounded. Neo reaches out and plucks one of the bullets out of the air. He drops it. The rest of the bullets drop. Agent Smith charges him. Neo fends him off easily, kicks him back down the hallway. He then runs at Agent Smith and jumps inside him. Agent Smith explodes. The other agents, now terrified, run away. Neo answers the phone, and wakes up to Trinity.)
[SC6 - Epilogue]
(Neo calls up The Matrix. No one answers, so Neo leaves a message...)

[SC6 - Epilogue]
(Neo hangs up the phone.)
