Brilliant, also nominating! I love how you can get an alternate question for us Brits

Great quiz idea. Unfortunately, I don't know any MLB teams -> that would be the best time to have an alternative qn. Aside from that, really good quiz.

NB This is not a complaint about the quiz. @DollhouseFan: I don't really understand your comment. US TV networks with alternative choice of US Beer. US Baseball teams with no alternative available. How exactly is that "for us Brits"?

I'm an American, and I can name most premier league teams. You should know some baseball teams, culture yourself someday Brit.

i had to do a little googling to find out the beer question, but otherwise wasn't too hard at all... Like the fact that you had to do the alternatives at the end, lol... so you really had no alternative -- i don't get the #'s though at the end, when you typed in the first ladies and got 41's, 42's, 43's, and 44's???

EmYanks2001: the numbers indicate which president is her husband. E.g., Obama is the 44th president.

Milwaukee's famous beer isn't Old Milwaukee? Tough question for a non-American

Mulligan97, that was Schlitz's advertising slogan for many years. You're correct, that was a tough one for a non-American. The answer to alternative question #1 is unfair. "Vegan" is the common parlance, but "Vegitarian" is the more traditional term.

@JustANiceGuy: vegan and vegitarian are not the same. Vegans don't eat any animal product, including eggs, milk etc, while vegitarians just don't eat meat.

The beer that made Milwaukee Famous was hard for me as well, and I am an American. Never heard of this Schiltz and I'm no stranger to beer. However, I am from the East Coast.

Fun quiz and I hate to be pernickety, but technically, the answer to the first alternate question is VEGANISM. The word, "vegan" on it's own is an adjective, or as a noun, a person. The 'lifestyle' is veganism.

I don't think the beer slogan has been used in years. Yes, the directions were the most confusing part of the quiz.

smartster, on quizzes such as this one, I do find googling acceptable. When you can only get to other questions by correctly answering preceeding questions, I find it makes the quiz pointless if you don't know the answers to the first or second question. Yes, it may make my score meaningless, but it ups the enjoyment of it for me. On regular quizzes I would never google the answers.

Help me. "Michelle" "Hilary" & "Barbara" all worked for first ladies. "Laura" did not. What did I do wrong?

Lions6116: The Beatles are arguably the biggest band ever to exist (worldwide), and knowing their first names is fairly common knowledge no matter where you are in the world. Similarly, there are many American things I would expect us in the UK to know, such as the last few presidents, because they are in some way relevant to us. However, most people outside of the USA know nothing about American sports or TV channels. If the questions were replaced by Rugby Union teams or programmes on BBC Four, I'm sure Americans would be complaining.

Mulligan97: Old Milwaukee was made by the Schlitz Brewing Company. Schlitz was the largest brewer in the world in 1902 and several other times in the first half of the 20th century.

@cerdog: I've been sporcling for only a year, but find some time each day -- in letter-blitzes, gimme 5s, by the number quizzes &c there are plenty of Premier League items, UK PM questions and other UK trivia... I haven't seen one comment from a US player complaining, be advised that the US-centric complaint is beginning to ring hollow and read more like a pout

Love the alternate question format, but It was a cruel trick to combine all the alternates (Im too young to know Schlitz!), nonetheless great quiz, instantly favorited.

If the quiz asked about Rugby teams, the BBC or the wives of the PMs, I'd just move on to another quiz. If a website is populated mostly by Americans, it isn't surprising if many quizzes are americentric.

I think this quiz was just a bit too niche in knowledge of American things. Maybe some Brits should start submitting quizzes like these! I know a lot of things about the US, but unfortunately knowing 3/4 networks and 2/4 MLB teams wasn't enough. It was a bit annoying, really, in a quiz where you need to get all the answers of one question in order to progress.

When taking a trivia quiz there are lots of reasons why you wouldn't know something. I don't see why geography should have special status. If someone was to say "I don't own a television, this quiz is too TV centric" that wouldn't be a valid criticism of the quiz, it would just be a reason that you didn't know some of the answers. Trivia is about whether or not you know the answer. Who cares why?
