	I agree, not everyone is thinking about the Death Penalty in the USA (especially if one lives in a country where you never get to deal with this issue in the present). I'm from a European country and I'm following news around the Death Penalty in the USA regularly, so this quiz wasn't difficult for me.

	@All Connecticut representatives did vote to repeal the death penalty in that state just a few days ago, but it has not yet been signed into law. We're going to wait until the law is officially in effect before changing the quiz answer.

	Some of these states have the death penalty in name only. Maryland, for one, should effectively abolish it since nobody has actually been put to death there since John Thanos in 1994.

	Wow...totally got my own state wrong. Illinois didn't execute anyone for a long time before they changed the law, so I guess I didn't notice the difference! They used to just routinely commute all death sentences.

	@packsoldier- There have been six executions in California since the start of 2000. A court-imposed moratorium has been in place since 2006.

	I did worse by trying to use some common sense (35 right) than if I had just guessed "death" for all of them (37 if I counted right)...obviously my definition of "common sense" needs to be refined...

	The three forms of death penalty I want to get rid of are firing squad, electric chair, and....uh....I can't remember the third one. Oops.

	I'm opposed to the death penalty, but I think using the terms "Life" and "Death" for answer choices is rather loaded. I'm sure plenty of people on the other side of the debate see their views as pro-life (as a crime deterrent, etc.) Just a thought.

	Regarding Connecticut: the repeal isn't official yet, as it's only been passed by the state legislature, but the Governor has been saying all along that he would sign it if it passed. @TonyA: Maryland has actually executed four more people since Thanos: Flint Hunt in 1997, Tyrone Gilliam in 1998, Stephen Oken in 2004, and Wesley Baker in 2005. Also, if I may be a little pedantic here, technically, the repeals in New Mexico (in 2009) and Connecticut were not retroactive, and there are still people on death row in those states, so there could still be executions in those two states.

	@jslewitz: Originally, the question at the top was something like "name the maximum penalty in each of these states." The L was never intended to mean life as you're interpreting it--it's referring to life in prison.

	All the states of the Bible Belt all uphold the Death Penalty. I guess they ignored what Jesus had to say and went with the way of the Old Testament.
