Yeah, also in "defense" of the author and this clever format:
First, it is a knowledge quiz. I believe Sporcle has a few of them. Correctly answering is rewarded.
Second, it's a minefield. If you know the answer, you are safe, and you've demonstrated your knowledge. If you hit a mine, you blow up. If you don't like minefield quizzes you don't have to play them. The Red Alert message appears in the game notes.
This quiz has the added twist of randomizing the mines, and, unlike most minefield quizzes, you have an 80% chance of moving on even if you have to guess. So it is an "occasional minefield" quiz. To reach the end (if that is a player's ultimate goal) requires LESS replays than other minefields, so there is clearly no intention of fishing for them. |
