| *One note on the history of MVP voting. The scoring system has been the same since 1931: 14 points for 1st place vote, 9 points for 2nd...1 point for 10th. What changed was the number of voters. From 1931-1937 there were only 8 voters, so there were fewer votes to go around. Players like Gehrig, along with DiMaggio, Charlie Gehringer, Lefty Grove, Jimmie Foxx, Earl Averill, and Michey Cochrane would certainly be much higher on the list if there were 28 voters in the 30's.
Also, I'm working on putting together a list for NL MVPs, and combined to account for players who spent time in both leagues. |
