The title of this quiz is very vague. I didn't realize it was by rank at first. (Yes it's logical when you think about it, but technically aren't ALL places listed in a census?)

One of these days, after enough Sporcle quizzes, I'll remember the places in PA that once were large population centers, but are now part of Philly. Finally got Northern Liberties on this one!

It's bad enough to forget an answer, as I did one or two times, but to have never heard of one...that feels painful.

as a non-American I didn't expect to do well, but just came back from a vacation in New England which helped. A lot.

As I know well from previous quizzes, it really helps to live in a original 13 colony state because all this early US history is drilled into your head in school, because much of it happened right in our backyards!

I've never heard of Sherburne, MA and I also can't find it on a map. Did it become part of another city or change names?

Yea! #16, and the least guessed answer is my hometown!

@redmoose, the link says it's a town on Nantucket. I actually live in Sherborn, MA, which I knew couldn't be on here, so I had to look it up.

@kbelle - According to the link, these ARE all the places listed on the 1790 Census. These weren't just the top 24...there were only 24 total.

One of these days I'll start remembering that Norfolk is a city. It's not like I've been there or anything.

@FelixtheBear, no way! I (used to) live in sherborn too. I've never commented on a sporcle game before but I thought it was so funny that our tiny little town made it on here. According to wikipedia, it used to be called 'Sherborne'. Probably not what the game is referring too, but still cool

The Witch trials were 100 years before the 1790 census, so probably not.

Currently living in Philadelphia, and formerly living in Alexandria and Richmond helped tremendously on this quiz.
