It's tragic that so many people are more familiar with American Gangster and American Gigolo than with the REAL classic-- An American Werewolf in London. It really is a fun movie. And The Quiet American is NOT funny, but it is excellent.

Good stuff. I forgot a few, but after seeing the answers, I wasn't that upset about forgetting utterly forgettable pieces of junk like An American Carol or American Outlaws. Other possible additions could be "American Me" w/ Edward James Olmos and "American Heart" w/ Jeff Bridges.

@Karras and wolfpackjaw: Coming to America doesn't fit the criterion--the quiz is asking for films with "AmericaN" in the title. OTOH, why couldn't "American Splendor" make this quiz? Ah well, maybe the sequel. (And there are a number of films that could make that quiz, including some delightfully cheesy films like "American Ninja" and "American Anthem.")

Two things. 1. Why was the Hugh Grant movie out of order? 2. This is the second time on Sporcle I missed American Flyers, a movie my uncle was in. Once again family I fail you.

Glad that you included Wet Hot American Summer, love that movie soo much. By the guys that created Stella, not to mention the film has a star-studded cast.

Denzel Washington was THE American Gangster in "American Gangster." Putting Russell Crowe as the actor is just, well, racist.

@TypicalMoron: No, they probably left that one out because it hasn't got "american" in the title.
Anyway, it's ronery, not wonewy.

How did I miss "American Psycho"? :P Otherwise, fine and difficult quiz. I actually prefer that every "American" movie wasn't included for difficulty's sake. A lot of these recent "American" movies have been box office busts so it makes things a bit harder despite being fairly recent.

American Virgin - Rob Schneider. Why can't you just write 'Pie' instead of 'American Pie' the word 'American' is implied considering it's the topic.

@sporcle admins: I hope the clue for American Gangster wasn't changed simply because of ifreebasetrivia's stupid comment. That's just soft if so.
