Clever idea. I think you could do with a few more though. Saving Private Ryan vs. Thin Red Line, Never Say Never Again vs. Octopussy, the Cave vs. The Descent, etc.

I love this. You should expand it to include some more, like Saving Pvt Ryan and Thin Red Line, or those two that just came out The Road and The Book of Eli. There are so many instances of this!

@atoms12123: The Wild actually was written and went into production before Madagascar. Madagascar just got released first (and was much better).

There are huge differences between the road and the book of eli. Their only similarities are really that they are both very gray and both post-apocalyptic. otherwise one is about a man protecting a very important book from evil doers...the other is about a man teaching his kid how to survive and avoid cannibals.

So is the "doppelgänger" column supposed to contain the alleged "copy" movie? Because if it is, then Finding Nemo and Shark Tale should be switched.

I always associated Leviathan with Deep Star Six since they both looked like schlocky monster/horror movies. The Abyss at least had the James Cameron name to elevate it.

I disagree that The Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan should be on the quiz. They both involved World War II, but that was the only major similarity between them. If they hadn't both been nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars in the same year, I doubt anyone would think of them as being doppelgängers.

Most, if not all, the doppleganger movies referenced in the comments were already in the "Same Movie, Different Title" quiz linked at the top of the page. I guess it's a bit ironic that it's the same quiz with a different name.
BTW, the link is misspelled "Same
Move
, Different Title".

This is ridiculous. There's not much in common between eXistenZ and The Matrix (certainly neither eerily nor a Doppelgänger). If anything Lawnmover Man could be seen as an influence (nothing more) on eXistenZ.

I wouldn't really consider this doppelganger movies. I thought this was going to give the title of a low budget movie that is made to confuse people (100 million BC vs 10,000 BC, Transmorphers vs Transformers). That might have been too easy though.

"The Road" and "Book of Eli" are not similar at all. Even if they were, "The Road" would hardly be the "doppelganger," since it's based on a Pulitzer-prize winning novel.

Shark Tale and Finding Nemo are both animated films taking place in the ocean. The similarity ends there. This does seem a little subjective.
