	The Mayor of Casterbridge isn't really one of Hardy's less famous works. Why not "The Hand of Ethelberta" or "A Laodicean" or some such?

	I'd say the same is true of Billy Budd (Melville's second most famous work), Invisible Cities (arguably Calvino's most famous, and certainly at least his second most famous) work, Tender is the Night (second most famous Fitzgerald), The Magic Mountain (again, probably second most famous), and Pale Fire (definitely second most famous).
