Cool idea for a quiz. It's too bad that most of the top countries are "co-countries" (with "and") or countries with "of the." That isn't to say it's bad, it's just that my mind doesn't naturally reach for St. Vincent and the Grenadines!

Great idea. However, United States of America is Sporcle standard, so you should tally the vowels that way. Also, please accept DRC, St Kitts, St Vincent and St Lucia instead of making us write it out.

Good, but why not consider y as a vowel ?

@TreehuggnCowgirl - No, Sporcle Standard in the old published quizzes is United States. Overall, it has never been decided. There's a fairly even split, but I think United States is still preferred.

Y should be considered as a vowel. I believe it would only add Vatican City, but not including y when its a vowel is like not counting strawberries as a fruit just because they're out of season.

If you're accepting "Democratic Republic of the Congo", you should really accept "Federated States of Micronesia" which would make it number one, at 12 vowels.

If you're going to accept DRC, UAE, and other forms, then you should accept "Ivory Coast". Not everybody can get the French name correctly.

the UK should be #1 as "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" with 16 vowels

If you don't include Y and Vatican City, you might consider including it (and other debatable entries) as bonus answers. That helps people at least understand your thinking (and acknowledges the alternate answers they come up with).
