Does this not count? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statute_of_Rhuddlan

Although that can be argued, the "United Kingdom" really doesn't describe the situation between Wales and England under the Statute of Rhuddlan because one was conquered by the other and continued to be subordinate to the other; as the directions say, this quiz considers the Acts of Union between Scotland and England (which included Wales) as the beginning of what is recognized as the United Kingdom because it was created through acts in both participating parliaments and both countries maintained equal status in the union (at least officially)

Ynys Mon should also be accepted for the Welsh island.

I also made a quiz of the flags of the UK and its territories here:
http://www.sporcle.com/games/diving/uk_flags
and a quiz about the four countries on a map and their capitals here:

Why did you ask about three of the countries' flags but ask about the flag of St Patrick when it came to Northern Ireland? St Patrick's flag is relevant to the whole island of Ireland and doesn't uniquely identify Northern Ireland. The flag of Northern Ireland does though.

Gimboid - my reasoning was that St Patrick's Cross represents Northern Ireland (and previously Ireland) on the Union Flag and because the Northern Ireland government no longer has an official flag (since they stopped using the Ulster Banner in 1972), it instead uses the Union Flag (which includes St Patrick's Cross) for official functions

Perhaps be a little more specific for the world cup question somehow? I didn't know if you were looking for a year or a sport.

Fish1987 - fair point, I changed the question to 'FIFA World Cup', hopefully that's clearer

"Wales: Year of Entry into union" accepts also 1974. Why?

You could add patron saints and their dates.

SpeziFish - this seems less clear than when I was writing the quiz, but my reasoning was from a legal standpoint: from the union until 1967 Wales was considered a part of England for legal purposes (the Wales and Berwick Act explicitly defined 'England' as including Wales from a legal standpoint). It could be argued that the 1707 union created a kingdom with only 2 parts: England & Scotland and that Wales did not become a distinct entity within the United Kingdom until the Welsh Language Act repealed the definition of England as including Wales in 1967 (which is an alternate answer). The English/Welsh border was still ambiguous until the Local Government Act came into force in 1974 and resolved issues like Monmouthshire, legally formalizing Wales and its borders within the UK. Thank you if you've followed me to this point, that was my (rather circuitous) reasoning for including that year: it could be argued it was a year that Wales was formally made a distinct & defined entity under UK law.

PatrickH - I added the patron saints (but not their dates), is the question correct on Saint Patrick being the patron saint of all-Ireland and therefore Northern Ireland, or are the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland each specifically associated with Saint Patrick?

Poor Ryan Giggs, great club success, never been to the World Cup. I wonder if Bale can make one.

"the Welsh Language Act repealed the definition of England as including Wales in 1967..." Only for future matters; Wales is still constitutionally part of England regarding any Acts passed before 1967 and for anything that flows from those. This is in fact why Wales is still part of the UK, which is the only actual country involved. Had Wales been declared outright not part of England it would have therefore become independent.
