| I had never seen Douai in my life. Now I realize why: I googled "population villes de France" and it appeared only 158th in the rank for the population of communes. Surely it has a metropolitan area much larger than the city proper. Conversely, I entered well known cities like Le Havre, Le Mans and Reims and they didn't appear among the answers, surely because their metro areas are relatively small. (In fact, in any quiz about French cities I always enter automatically the three R's: Rouen, Rennes, Reims and I get something.) |
