| Good point on the strikeouts - obviously to strike out the most times in a decade, you have to be PLAYED quite a bit in a decade, which we assume means you have assets that outweigh the fact that you strike out a lot. Obviously striking out as a batter is pretty emasculating, but Alasdair_ is right in that research has shown that strikeouts really aren't a big deal - basically, the guys who are striking out a lot tend to be slow, flyball hitters, and are hence striking out at the expense of grounding into double plays, which is at least twice as bad as striking out - and plus, they tend to hit a lot of doubles and home runs to make up for it. Obviously, none of these guys are bad players, but when a guy on your team strikes out, have you ever, even ONCE, leapt in the air and pumped your fist, glad that at least he didn't GIDP? No, striking out always sucks when it happens. I did think about putting caught stealing, but *spoiler* it is virtually identical to the most stolen bases list - the guys who steal a lot, run a lot; guys who run a lot, get caught a lot. Anyway I can easily add some more categories if you can think of any. GIDP or hit batters, perhaps? Anything else? |
