Good quiz but.....if you don't accept "Yaz" you'll get torched on here. I suggest that you should change that.

Excellent quiz. Bonus answers active players within 200?

I know I'm gonna get burned for this, but Carl Yastrzemski is an answer on a ton of baseball quizzes. Mientkiewicz, Pierzynski, Grudzielanek and Kluszewski rarely get the "close enough" treatment, but Yastrzemski seems to get it on all baseball quizzes. If not, someone complains and the author accepts "Yaz". If you've played several baseball quizzes, I am sure he has popped up along the way. As Sporclers, we should have the Yastrzemski club in our bag by now.

never would have guessed the guy with 1018.

I would rather people just learn how to spell Yastrzemski. I don't feel like catering to the lazy and ignorant is in anyone's best interest. If you see it in so many places why do you still not know how to spell it? It's completely phonetic with ONE weird letter. Just remember it ends in "zemski" and you're all set.

Im fine either way with yastrzemski, though given how many quizzes accept Yaz, a bonus telling you that you must spell it out probably makes sense. In response to rubio, the thing about the other guys you list is that none of them (at least to my awareness) have a common shortening of their names.

Klu certainly does, but I agree with other posts, just learn to spell it already, all you have to know is where to put the Z.

Grudz is fairly common for Mark Grudzielanek. I understand your point, though. It's not that hard to have another tab open and use it to google a player, then copy the correct spelling of their name into Sporcle. I do it all the time for names I frequently misspell like Andres Galaragga, Red Schoendienst, Yastrzemski, etc.

Um, it's Galarraga, not Galaragga.

No Rickey Henderson? Amazing.
Jul 16th, 2012 at 21:10 GMT
@BiloxiSean: Of course not. Rickey would stop at first so Rickey could steal second. (He never hit even 40 doubles, 10 triples, or 30 homers in a season).

Mientkiewicz is the one that's always given me the devil. I feel like putting it into a .doc file and pulling it up and cutting-and-pasting it when I need it in a quiz.

Good quiz idea and well-executed...A look at the numbers got my eyes opened: Mr. 1136 did made the list on only 117 HRs and Mr.1041 did it with a mere 160 HRs; those two are half of the 700 2B club...Mr. 1136 also did 25% of his 1K XBH work with triples....Thank for the quiz.
