Rod Carew was born on a train in the Panama Canal Zone in 1945, when it was an unincorporated US territory, although he is Panamanian. Carlos Lee should be the leader for Panama with 1818 hits.

In 1901 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Downes v. Bidwell that unincorporated territories are not the United States. Hence, Panama.

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, yet is considered American. Is this because he was born at a Naval base? If it's not, then Carew should be considered American. Great quiz, btw.

Ignoring the fact that Puerto Rico is technically not a country, but owned by the US, great quiz, although I'd like to see more countries too (Netherlands maybe, with Andruw Jones and Jair Jurjeenns?)
