	I hope you realize that the question is whether the sport Americans often refer to as Soccer but the rest of the world refers to Football should be referred to as Football or Soccer overall...It's not a question on whether American football is better or worse than Soccer...everyone knows that Soccer is a much more interesting sport than the commercialized and ad-crazed game of colonial/american football

	who ever invented time outs just ruined any chance of a good sport. games should be continuous not stopping every minute for a quick message from one of a billion sponsors. football is and always will be the beautiful game, it doesnt matter what you call it. for most of the world its football, and they refer to gridiron as american football. americans/ canadians go for soccer, doesnt really matter tbh

	Soccer is an shorterned version of "Association Football" so is technically correct. Although try telling that to someone in the UK and see how they react!

	soccer was used in the uk by posh people and rugby fans in the old days hence why there is an aversion to it now by football fans here

	Football all the way. Soccer is derived from association football, but the Americans decided to call their game football despite knowing that name was already taken. It would be like referring to 20/20 cricket as "baseball" and then when Americans search youtube for baseball they would get very annoyed when they end up watching cricket.

	@senorkristobbal: nah it was the other way round, rugby was a private school game so it was the working class that played football... and obviously it should be referred to as football.
