NOTES: The word frequency is taken from the 60,000 word frequency list from the COCA website (see link above). It is a LEMMA word list - meaning different forms of a verb are combined and counted together - i.e. "ate" is under "eat." When an answer is guessed it will go in the table and its rank as well as rank within verbs starting with its letter will be shown below left of the table. To be included it also MUST be in the Oxford English Dictionary - a handful of slang-type verbs were not included due to this requirement. The COCA corpus is based on words taken from various mediums from 1990-2012, so it is quite recent in its focus. Verbs include all types of verbs, i.e. modal, auxiliary, etc. Clicking on a RANGE will show starting letters and word lengths for unanswered entries. TIME BONUSES are given for certain categories, such as total verbs, verbs of a certain length, top N verbs, etc. The bottom left table shows the top N verbs in a row you have answered for each starting letter up to 50...i.e. if there is a "4" under "R" you have the four most common verbs starting with "R".
