	yep, Oklahoma City begins and ends with vowels, for sure. Y should be accepted when it is a vowel. At a minimum, and "vowel" quiz needs to address Y. No excuse.

	But Yuba City's first y isn't a vowel, it's a semi-consonant.

	As barleduc said, in the case of Yuba City, the "Y" in Yuba is a consonant.

	I think you should specify that Y is counted as vowel in the instructions. I was three quarters of the way through before I thought to try Oklahoma City as traditionally the vowels are A,E,I,O,U.

	If you are accepting towns/townships, you should accept Oyster Bay, NY, population 293,214.

	@Someone: certain towns/townships in NYC are never included in population quizzes as they are never regarded as among the largest towns/cities in the state - Oyster Bay is one of those. Oyster Bay is not in the vast majority - maybe all - of largest cities quizzes on Sporcle.

	Darinh: You are right, but Oyster Bay has the same status in NY as Upper Darby Township has in PA, and you explicitly state "A couple of these may technically be classified as a "town" or "township."" This suggests that towns/townships everywhere would be included. So I think that if Upper Darby and Old Bridge (also a township) are in the quiz, then Oyster Bay should be as well.

	This whole debate over when Y is a vowel seems silly to me given that a lot of these answers end with a silent E - no vowel sound at all, just a convention of orthography! These categories are basically arbitrary: is the H in "Savannah" a consonant, or the W in "view"? (Or the W in "cwm"?) Does "west" start with a consonant, while the identically pronounced French word "ouest" starts with a vowel? We act like there are clear, self-evident distinctions when in fact the boundaries are either fuzzy or laid down capriciously.
