| @chriskotx: I confess that I had 45 or 46 cities for the quiz and added some not too big ones to reach a round number (50). It's not easy to find suitable cities. For many ones that are larger or better known than those in the quiz, the name in Spanish is the same as in English or only differ by the accented vowel (Glasgow, Manchester, París, Milán, Washington, Dallas, Budapest, Osaka, Düsseldorf, Hong Kong, Shanghai and lots more). It's curious that I had included São Paulo but then removed it. Usually the Real Academia Española recommends the Spanish spelling (e.g. Jerusalén and not Jerusalem) but for São Paulo, rather strangely, the Academy admits that the Portuguese spelling is acceptable. In Argentina San Pablo is more common, but seemingly not in the rest of the Spanish speaking world. |
