| @nadivereb: the France/Netherlands point is debatable, as it's a border between two European countries but the border itself isn't in Europe. It's like a quiz about European capitals: although Turkey is accepted as an European country, its capital is in Asia. Do you include Ankara as a "European capital" or not? @jhowes: really the score histogram flattens a lot toward its upper end. Probably I'll raise the time to 15 min. (So think that you would have gotten 16 answers instead of 13). @joebobs (Dan stands for Daniel so it's "his"): many thanks. To use Google Earth's measuring tool is a sign of laziness. Vincenty's formula is immensely more precise, but you have to enter manually the coordinates (deg/min/sec of lat/long) of both points. For example, the distance North Pole-South Pole is 20004 km, but for Google Earth it's only 19982 km (of course, as all distances are underestimated in the same proportion, this doesn't alter the order of answers). |
