	Cool idea for a quiz. A few suggestions: Vanuatu is more Easterly than the Reunion, the Crozet islands are more Southern than Madagascar (there may be others even further south), and Rarotonga at least is more Westerly than Canada. German is also official in parts of Italy (Alto Adige and South Tyrol) as well as Romania (Transylvania and the Banat), which affect your easternmost and southernmost entries. And you could probably accept US (Alaska/Hawaii) and Tonga interchangeably and US (Alaska), Tuvalu, Kiribati and Fiji.

	Great quiz! Fun and educational. My only beef is that I felt too rushed, I'd give it more time. It's answer in order anyway, it won't turn into random guessing.

	@Newtoni: thanks for Vanuatu, I completely overlooked it for French, it has been corrected. For the rest: Crozet islands are a dependency, not an overseas department of France. I've considered countries as a whole; I think that German is official in all of Switzerland, while it's official only in a portion of Italy. Ditto for Romania. For countries in the Pacific: some islands of Fiji are crossed by the meridian of 180º; if I had taken 180º as the east-west limit, Fiji would be both the easternmost and the westernmost English-speaking country, which is paradoxical. Adopting the International Date Line there are no doubts: for English, the Aleutian Islands are the westernmost (but still east of the IDL), while some islands of Kiribati are the easternmost (but still west of the IDL). Take into account that the IDL was moved a lot to the east so as to include the whole of Kiribati.

You're right about the Crozet Islands physically, but since they are just an overseas territory of France and not a department they are excluded from this quiz on a political basis. The German extremities could be resolved by deciding whether it needs to be a national or just regional official language. I think Tonga is on the other (wrong) side of the International Date Line so United States (Alaska) is the right answer for westernmost. I think Kiribati is the right answer for easternmost because the way the IDL is drawn allows Kiribati to extend farther east than any other country.

	One quick nit-picky comment here. You might want to either rethink the title of the quiz or take the United States out because technically the US doesnt have an official language. Other than that though, this quiz was very thought provoking. :) 5 sporcles.

	@sunnyskates8: among the notes there is one that clarifies that if the country has no official language, the most spoken (de facto) is considered. Unfortunately there is no space to insert all these explanations in the title of the quiz. Even 200 characters (the maximum allowed for notes) are sometimes too few, and the resulting language is something like "Tarzan adopt Date Line not 180 meridian".

	English is the official language of both Alaska and Hawaii (along with Hawaiian). English is not the official language of the United States only because the US doesn't have an official one. Nonetheless, it's clearly the national language by any measure you would want to consider. As hard as it is for me to understand, for some that's a controversial statement ;-) I ran across a quote today from the author Philip K. Dick that greatly amused me: "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."

	Westernmost Arabic Country should be Morocco or Western Sahara not Morocco or Mauritania. If the Western Sahara is not considered part of Morocco, then it is an independent nation, it doesn't stop existing for Mauritania to suddenly become the westernmost point where people speak Arabic.

@CoolBeans: your reasoning seems logical, but still I'm not fully convinced. You say "If the Western Sahara is not considered part of Morocco, then it is an independent nation"; I think there are intermediate categories. It's like saying "If Puerto Rico is not considered part of the United States, then it is an independent nation", which of course isn't true. If you ask the easternmost Spanish speaking country in North America, it's the US if you consider Puerto Rico as a part of it, but if you don't, then the Dominican Republic takes its place, similarly as Mauritania does for Arabic. (If you enter Western Sahara, it's accepted but not shown; usually in Sporcle games you can't include "Western Sahara" as an answer, similarly to Puerto Rico or Palestine).

	@dancastro/tahitiwahini (whichever alter ego wants to read): should have read the bit about the IDL. It makes much more sense to pick that than 180 :) Just to nitpick slightly more: Having Belgium in there suggests portions of countries are accepted, since it's only for the "German Language Area" around St Vith and Eupen, which is less Westerly than Luxembourg. Does that support the Romania/Italy argument enough?

	@Newtoni: seemingly German is an official language for all of Belgium, e.g. it can be used by Members of Parliament in Brussels and not only in the areas you mention. At least that's what I could grasp from Wikipedia.

	@Hamburger: I think France has a US-Puerto Rico relationship with French Polynesia rather than a US-Hawaii relationship, that is to say, French Polynesia is just an overseas territory of France rather than a overseas department.

	@Newtoni: It's true that only a tiny part of Belgium speaks german as their native language (less than 1%), but it's nonetheless an official language, nationwide.
