| The author of this quiz is confusing embassies with CONSULATES. I was wondering why there's TWO "embassies" in Turkey, and THREE in Germany. The two in the US make sense (New York location is the embassy to the UN, and DC location is the embassy to the USA). But why Istanbul and Frankfurt? Those are not capital cities. Well, it turns out that the Istanbul and Frankfurt ones are CONSULATES, as I suspected. A consulate IS NOT AN EMBASSY. A consulate is just a subsidiary office of the embassy that issues passports and visas. Also, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website http://www.mfa.kg/diplomatic-missions-of-kr/dipmissions-of-kr-abroad-2_en.html makes no mention of a Bonn embassy. Even back when Bonn was the capital of West Germany, Kyrgyzstan was not an independent state, as so has NEVER had an embassy in Bonn. The Bonn location is probably another consulate, or worse, a consulate general (which is basically a travel-information office). |
