To put an end to the whole "what region is Afghanistan in" thingy:
The CIA world factbook puts Afghanistan in South Asia. I seriously don't know where to put them, it feels more right to put them in Central Asia for me. But it also borders the Middle Easy, hence some people may want to put it there.
So the clue is now "Central/South Asia" because it's simply the most accurate. It sure as hell does not belong in the middle east. The original use of the term Mddle East does not include Afghanistan, and the definition of the Greater Middle East, coined by the Bush-administration, even includes countries like Mauritania (that's north-east Africa).
