My first quiz. 1st column is population in millions there. *Note about populaton: I mixed sources and ended up with some metro area data - see comments. This is why some populations are missorted.

Someday I will be able to spell those two Russian cities that begin with N. Just not today...

Some of the populations are off; the American and Japanese both seem to be city only and not including their metropolitan ares, while the rest seem to include the metro areas). Tokyo really has around 35 million people and is the world's largest metropolis, New York has 22 million, and Los Angeles about 11.

Thanks to all who've taken this quiz, my debut effort. I appreciate the feedback -- I'll go fix the populations. I started out using sources cited in Wikipedia, then saw that World Gazetteer was consistent enough to use as a sole source. So I'll go back and fix the numbers.

Gazipur is as Bangladesh #5 is sort of bothering me a bit -- it's clearly listed as such at http://tinyurl.com/bangladeshpop (World Gazetteer), but other sources appear to suggest its pop. is less than 200k. I've added Rājshāhi and Tongi as bonuses since they're in the 5 largest at http://tinyurl.com/citypopbd (CityPopulation.de).

Pretty good, you should accept Ekaterinburg though, that's a totally legitimate alternate romanisation.

Williams27: Thanks, it's done. -- For the top few countries where I started out with Wikipedia sources, the World Gazeteer data (cities only) is divergent from the Wikipedia list (metro area). Apologies for the sloppiness; lesson learned about consistency of sources! I think the best soln. is to change to the WG list and add the WP as bonuses, even though that messes up the historical % correct data.
