	You should accept Ichiro for Ichiro because that is what he is mostly known by. I know his whole name is Ichiro Suzuki but you should make an exception for him.

	Actually, G_Money, it wouldn't be an exception. Ichiro is Ichiro Suzuki's surname; they're reversed in most Asian cultures.

	I am confused why you would pick Kidd over Nash. Kidd is a great player and even a Hall of Famer but Nash won the NBA MVP two times during the decade making him almost an automatic choice.

	I can't fault you if the Sporting News made these teams, but Kidd actually does this thing called "play defense." A point guard is supposed to get the ball to the right player at the right time (which they both do equally well), but they are also supposed to be the best perimeter defender, clogging passing lanes and providing help defense. Kidd has averaged over 2 steals a game for most his career, and is a 9 time All Defensive player. Nash averages LESS THAN ONE steal per game for his career! Also add into this Kidd's ridiculous amount of triple doubles (a rebounding point guard is extremely valuable) and his 2 Finals appearances to Nash's zero, and you get Kidd as the better player. The only thing Nash has on Kidd is he's a better shooter. I dont think MVPs arent a good way to rank players - Nowitzki and Barkley both have the same amount, and there is no arguement to who is the better player.

	really, Giguere? Lecavalier? NO THORNTON? Insane list for the hockey. Lecavalier has had two seasons over 90 points, Thornton has had two over 90 assists. Not to mention another several point per game seasons.

	agree with the above comment. the hockey list is just not good, thornton? why is crosby there and not malkin. cosby shouldn't be there, he pales in comparison. lists seem relatively arbitrary.

	This is definitely arbitrary. They actually have an official all-decade team for the NFL now and it's definitely a lot different. Also, Richard Seymour is a DE, not a DT

	JWC: you forgot to mention the fact that Thornton also won a Hart Trophy during the decade. That's got to put him in over Lecavalier.

	Glad to see Randy Johnson finally get some love on somebody's list. He's arguably the best pitcher in TWO decades. Randy's numbers since 2000 blow Santana and Halladay out of the water: 143-78 (14 wins per year), 3.3 ERA, 2182 strikeouts (10.4/9 innings), 1.11 WHIP, and a 4.51 K/BB ratio. All to go along with a World Series MVP and 4 Cy Young awards. All the more impressive when you consider he entered the decade at 36 years of age, older than Halladay and Santana are today. Best pitcher of his generation, hands down--and that includes Pedro Martinez.

	I would say he beats Halladay and Santana easily but you can argue that Martinez has been better than good ole Randy Johnson. 3.01 ERA, 1.036 WHIP, 112 wins (.691%), only 1620 Ks but a 4.63 K/BB ratio. Maybe Johnson was the best but it isn't really "hands down." Randy has the nice counting numbers while Pedro has the ratio numbers

	Yeah, that really screwed me up that they for some reason listed Richard Seymour as a defensive tackle. I gave what are the usual answers for Defensive Tackles in these kinds of list, Warren Sapp and Kris Jenkins, and was surprised that neither was correct. I then proceeded to go through all 32 NFL teams and came up with about 7 different DTs that I thought could have been on this list: Albert Haynesworth, Marcus Stroud, John Henderson, Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, Tommie Harris, Ted Washington, Vince Wilfork, and even guys who I couldn't remember how long they played into the 2000s like Dana Stubblefield and Gilbert Brown. Still didn't get either answer right. I couldn't remember the name of either the Chargers' or Steelers' nose tackles, and it turns out that one of those was the one I needed to get, along with Richard Seymour, who is a freaking defensive end! (Jamal Williams was the other name I was forgetting.) Other than that, a very enjoyable quiz, as I got every other answer except for a bunch of hockey players and Jeff Kent, who just didn't cross my mind.

	The results are from the September 29, 2009 issue of Sporting News magazine. I looked long and hard for the links on their website but could not find it. Unfortunately in Sporcle you are not able to put the source of the quiz unless you have a link otherwise I would have placed my source.

	I was going to argue Utley over Kent too but then when you look at their stats, Utley didn't play long enough in the 2000s so although Utley was better, Kent has the counting numbers to beat him out.

	Hasek doesn't belong here, he didn't play enough in this decade. But definitely not Giguere. Maybe Osgood (I hate him but he has the cups) or luongo or even Nabokov. And it's completely ludicrous that Thornton isn't on here
