| I get what you're saying about the subject of the quiz being the regional confusion, in that case it's appropriate I guess. But what I've noticed is that really good Sporcle quizzes usually don't enter such subjective territory: I mean, honestly, here in India we don't even see Pakistan as Middle East. Or Niger? Similarly nowadays we consider the Maghreb as a part of the Middle East because we associate Middle East with Arab, but the truth is that the classical Middle East of antiquity should have ended somewhere in mid-Libya, isn't it? And since, as you said, the Muslim=Arab misconception is so widespread in the modern Western world, I thought a 'Majority Muslim countries with Arab minorities' quiz would be good: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Maldives...so many come to mind. Would teach people a lot too. Finally, totally agree with your view on the whole UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and other foreign labor populations point. |
