	Interesting quiz. I live in Albuquerque and have heard that it comes from the latin for white oak, or Albus Querqus. I can definitely see it coming from Arabic though, filtered through Spanish.

	@kristofferjay: When I was looking these up, I found that with some of them there was not a consensus on exactly where the name came from. This was the case with Albuquerque, but I went with the Arabic interpretation since I felt it was the more interesting choice (as there were no other Arabic city names on the list).

	As for Albuquerque, undoubtedly it comes from Alburquerque in Spain (the Duke of Alburquerque was the viceroy of New Spain, now Mexico when the city was founded) and its origin is Arabic (the Arabs occupied Spain from AD 711 to 1492). But I think that for the meaning "father" the Arabic has "abu"; most likely the "al-" is the Arabic article that appears in other Spanish place names like Alcalá, Almería, etc.

	Has anyone ever before in history actually heard of 'Tupelo' and 'Woonsocket'? Finding interesting names is one thing, but at least give people half a chance of having heard of the place...
