| @A5I9: The Netherlands Antilles was dissolved on 10 October 2010 and therefore no longer exists as an entity. Its constituent parts are covered in this quiz by Aruba & St Martin (the latter of which also scores for Sint Maarten, the Dutch name for the island), and Caribbean Netherlands (or its constituent islands of Bonaire, St Eustatius & Saba, which also score if entered individually, though I have lumped them into one answer). It is debatable whether St Martin and Sint Maarten should score as separate answers as they are parts of two different states (France & Netherlands) - however, the quiz specifies islands rather than territories and since they are part of the same island I decided to make it a single answer.
@brittain33: yes, it was never my intention to list every individual island of the Caribbean (the quiz would be several thousand answers long if I had done so) - rather the main island groupings that are considered as separate geopolitical entities. Likewise I did not list islands off the coast of South or Central American states which are considered an integral part of the mainland country. |
