| zlb33. That is not at all accurate. If you actually look at the highest crime cities, they are the ones with the most social programs, african american representation in city council, and money dumped into free or subsidized housing. It's not at all an african american thing either, it's a poverty thing. Ben Franklin said he had travelled the world over, and found that the more that was done to help the poor, the poorer they became, yet the more poor people were made uncomfortable in their poverty, the more they did for themselves to pull themselves out of it. Unfortunately people think that making poverty more comfortable for people is helping them, but history shows over and over that it has the opposite affect. Unfortunately people are either naively ignorant to that fact, or they feel that they can create a permanent constituency by making people dependent on them. Winston Churchill also said the biggest disservice you can do to someone is to expect nothing out of them, which of course is what we do with the poor. Sorry for the rant. |
