I've got to be honest: I don't like this quiz, and I'll tell you why. While many of these films' locations are vital ("Streetcar" could never be anywhere but Louisiana, "Into the Wild" could only be Alaska, etc.), for a lot of these, the state makes no difference at all. If "Hairspray" was in Pennsylvania or DC instead of Maryland, it would be exactly the same movie; "The Stepford Wives" and "Dirty Dancing" could be parts of Massachusetts or California or New Jersey (or anywhere else with a considerable amount of wealth); if Stephen King wasn't from Maine, "Shawshank" could take place absolutely anywhere. Thus, while the setting matters for a lot of these (and some can be inferred from the title, i.e. "Children of the Corn"), for the majority of the clues, the state is completely irrelevant- it's simply guessing "What movie did this person star in during this year?" as opposed to "What movie, with this star from this year, takes place in this state?"
I know that was a big ol' paragraph, but I hope you see what I'm getting at. |
