	Which would be better, to be a one hit wonder with Superman (arguably the most recognized comic) like Siegel and Shuster or be more like Lee or Kirby with multiple comics? Discuss

	Lee by a mile. If Superman is top, everything else that follows is Lee (excluding Batman). Fairplay to Siegel and Shuster for creating probably the worlds most famous superhero, but I'd rather have Spiderman, XMen, Hulk etc under my belt any day!

	didn't know the guy who created Wonder Woman was a doctor. and the first time Siegel/Shuster used the Superman concept, he was a villain - The Reign of the Superman. They later turned him into a force for good.

	Too bad Siegel/Shuster weren't able to have cameos in the original Superman films from the 70's & 80's. They were alive until the early/mid-90's.

	Nice mix of comics, not sticking to just Marvel and DC. Only ones I missed were the third in the Sandman and Watchmen lists. What did those guys do? BTW, Siegel and Shuster were no one-hit wonders. They created a number of other comic book characters of lasting popularity - their detective, Slam Bradley, lasted as a feature in Detective Comics for 12 years - but of course, Superman far overshadows anything else they'd ever done.

	Glad to see Bill Finger accepted as a bonus answer on Batman. DC (and Bob Kane's) refusal to formally acknowledge this co-creatorship is one of the most shameful incidents in comics history.

	Wasn't the Sandman created by someone else in the DC front office and then Gaiman picked up the little known and seldom used character (same with Death) and wrote a series on him (and his siblings)?

	I'd hate to be Siegel and Shuster. Had they retained the Superman rights, they'd be multi-billionaires by now.

	@MattJ: To the best of my knowledge, no. There were characters named Sandman in the DC Universe (standard superhero types), but the particular version which Gaiman wrote about was new and distinct.

	Gaiman's Sandman was original to him, but DC's front office was actively looking for a property to slap that name on to protect the copyright. And original Sandman did appear in it a few times. Also, I think Finger shouldn't be a bonus, but a regular answer.
