I'm not sure you have any control over this, but not sure it makes much sense to break down the percentiles that way. There are only 36 unique answers.

i started guessing all the current stars until i realized it was from the 70's, then quickly gave up, there were a few i would have known though

Surprised at the lack of Star Wars personnel on here.

I figured, if Eastwood is in all ten years then Sondra Locke had to be in there somewhere. Nope.

@Wyatts: Not really surprising. No one knew of Hamill, Fisher or even Ford when the first two films came out. An early preview indicated the "stars" of Star Wars were Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing. Even Belushi didn't make the cut.
These lists are selected by theatre owners, usually from memory rather than objective measures. So often selections were based on familiarity with the actor and a recent big hit. Brando was recognized after Godfather & Last Tango, Brooks because of the one-two punch of Blazing Saddles / Young Frankenstein. Oddly Wilder is not). But John Wayne did well after he couldn't draw flies to his film if they were coated in horse manure.

Clint Eastwood has the most impressive career in Hollywood history. He would likely make this list in five different decades.

completely missed Eastwood and surprised the Duke made it all the way into '74.

amazing longevity in so many of these actors: Eastwood if course, Keaton, Nicholson, Stallone...wonder if the current stars' legs will be this long?

Wow, I never would have guessed Mel Brooks. I kept thinking of Gene Wilder, Peter Bole and other stars of his movies, but never would have guessed Mel himself. Like others, I'm also surprised by the lack of Star Wars actors....maybe that's because they were more of an ensemble cast. Great trip down memory lane!

How could 47% of respondents not get Steve McQueen when his photo is on the front page!

For some dumb reason I read "top 10 box office earners" and started typing in movie title, not actors...had to look at the answers to figure out the quiz. Duh! Once I saw the answers there was no point in doing the quiz.

@figment - A lot of us don't look at the front page, and a lot of the younger players (like myself) well may not have recognized him from the photo anyway. He died in 1980, and an awful lot of people never got to know his work.

I just spent 2 minutes wondering why 'Star Wars' and 'Rocky' was not a top 10 earner, then gave up. Not sure if the quiz name is that clear, but nobody else seems to have had this problem.

I agree tjamesjones. I wasn't sure if we were typing in movies or actors at first either.
