| Hey, I was just going by the stats...if I had just picked who I thought was the best player at each position, I would have made some different choices. I believe this stat is a very good measure of who the best HITTERS were, relative to league average for each season they played. Ivan Rodriguez was great, obviously, but his batting stats alone just werent that great in that era. Gwynn was very close to Abreu, but honestly that looks reasonable to me. Gwynn had a much better average, but Abreu had a lot more power and got on-base more than Gwynn despite the lower batting average. |
